Coal Ash Hearing: Tuesday, March 29, 2016
From our friends at Appalachian Voices:
Attend a DEQ Coal Ash Hearing
Throughout March, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality is hosting a series of public hearings to collect citizens’ input on its draft ratings for each of the 33 coal ash impoundments in the state. The final rankings will determine the minimum clean up that Duke Energy must do and specify a timeline for the sites to be closed.
DEQ says it will consider Duke Energy’s science and your input to determine the rankings. We need your help to make sure those final rankings protect Duke’s neighbors and not just Duke’s bottom line.
In Catawba County, a hearing will be held on Tuesday March 29, 2016 at 6:00 pm in the CVCC Auditorium. 2550 US-70, Hickory, NC 28602
We need to get as many North Carolina residents as we can to each of these meetings! – See more at: http://appvoices.org/coalash/hearings/#sthash.PjvCl5uV.dpuf
