Fall Internship Opportunity: Social Media & Communications for 2025 Municipal Campaigns

With the Catawba County Democratic Party

Location: Hybrid (some in-person work in Catawba County, NC)

Time Commitment: 5–10 hours/week | Unpaid (College credit may be available)

Are you looking to build experience in political communication, digital strategy, or grassroots messaging? The Catawba County Democratic Party (CCDP) is looking for a Fall 2025 Social Media & Communications Intern to support municipal campaigns, including the high-profile Hickory mayoral race.

This intern will work closely with the CCDP Communications Team and coordinate with individual candidate campaign staff to create, schedule, and manage digital content that informs, engages, and motivates local voters.

What You’ll Do:

• Help craft social media posts, graphics, and short-form videos for CCDP and local candidates

• Assist with content planning and message development

• Monitor local news and community conversations for timely, relevant content

• Analyze engagement metrics and help refine digital strategies

• Attend local events to help gather content (photos, quotes, video clips)

• Collaborate with CCDP’s communications team and candidate campaigns to ensure message consistency

Who Should Apply:

• Current college students or recent grads interested in:

  • Political communication

  • Digital marketing and media

  • Community engagement

  • Campaign work or public service

• Majors in communications, marketing, English, journalism, political science, or related fields are all welcome

• Strong writers and visual thinkers encouraged to apply

• Basic knowledge of platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Canva, and/or video editing tools is a plus
