Are you concerned about growth and its impact on your community? Unhappy with your tax rate? Tired of driving through or around potholes? Do you think speed limits are too fast? Something else bothering you? Then run for office!
Filing for 2025 elections opens next week on July 7. We are hard at work recruiting
candidates and are having a “(Future) Candidate Training” on Monday, July 7, 6:30 PM at CCDP Headquarters. The training is open to all and please consider sharing the
opportunity – via the Mobilize link here – with those who you think would
make a good candidate!
All 26 municipal offices in Catawba County are non-partisan. New for this year is
support from the state party for all candidates running in municipal elections. If you
would like to know more about this support, come to the training on July 7. These are
offices that have an enormous impact on our daily lives and are elections we can win! The filing period is July 7 to noon, July 18.
Catawba County had its full delegation represented at the North Carolina Democratic
Party (NCDP) State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting on June 28. Notable updates
include the Party’s long-term investment in year-round organizing (North Carolina is one
of two states in the US which has a year-round organizing effort), robust parliamentary
procedure maneuvering, and renewal of Affiliated Organization Charters. I am pleased
to report that Catawba County continues to be very strongly represented at the state
level.
Finally, our website has been undergoing some major renovations - check them out! We know how important it is to have a unified message and a strong brand presence on and offline, and we are working toward strengthening both in order to elect Democrats in Catawba County. Stay tuned for more changes and features, including a blog series.
We are looking forward to seeing many Democrats running and winning elections this
year. Get involved and stay involved!
