Join Catawba County Democrats on Saturday, March 30, for our annual county convention. To be held downstairs in the Community Room of Conover Station (where Conover Branch Library is located), all Catawba County Democrats are welcomed to attend! We will be voting on new party officers as well as state convention delegates and any resolutions.
Social time begins at 9:30 with coffee and provided refreshments. The meeting starts at 10 a.m. and will go until approximately noon.
Our special guest speaker will be Aisha Dew, first vice chair of NCDP and well known across the Democratic Party in North Carolina. She was the Chair of the Mecklenburg County Democratic Party from 2011- 2013, which was the host county for the Democratic National Convention. She is the first African American woman to be elected to the position. In 2010, Aisha was hired to manage the successful reelection campaign of State Representative Kelly Alexander. She was also Chair of the Mecklenburg County Commission advisory board for redistricting, as appointee by County Commission Chair Jennifer Roberts. She received the award for Top Five Young Democrats of North Carolina. Aisha is also the recipient of the Mecklenburg County Democratic Young Democrat of the Year award. She also received the politics award from the Queen City Chapter of the National Women of Achievement.
