The Young Democrats of Catawba County met (virtually) on Sunday, February 28th to elect new officers. We are excited to announce Nicole Marie Jacobs was elected as the President. Nicole Marie has experience in politics at the national, state, and local level, and she is excited effect change here in Catawba County. We are lucky to have her!
John David Whitener lives in Maiden with his husband, Jeremy. He is an educator and performance artist. We can't wait to get back to seeing him shine at the Green Room in Newton!
Toni Abernathy is a passionate activist and science educator in Hickory. Toni has effectively used her voice to bring attention to racial disparities in Catawba County, and she and her sister, Darian, worked with others to organize Catawba's Juneteenth celebration.
Sarah Sakatos is already serving as the CCDP Secretary and has worked hard on many projects for our county party. She trained poll workers as well as worked the polls herself. She was Michelle Morgan's campaign manager for Catawba Commission race in 2018. Sarah currently works for a public/nonprofit partnership in Hickory.
